Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Backs Idris Elba As Next James Bond

James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in cinema history, and has become something of a symbol. Naturally, there has been tones of conjecture as to who will portray the character next.

One of the more popular choices for portraying the character, at least amongst fans online, seems to be Idris Elba. Not only does he have the naturally suave charisma expected of Bond, but he’s also proven that he has the acting chops to carry out such an important role.

Now, another high profile Hollywood name has thrown his support behind Idris Elba, and it’s none other than Dwayne Johnson. Johnson revealed his choice during a recent interview with LADBible.

I do like the idea of my boy Idris Elba being Bond though, right? I like that idea a lot, so I’m an advocate for that, for him as Bond.

While this has certainly given a lot more traction to online discussions about Idris Elba playing Bond, this casting still seems quite unlikely. The producers have revealed that they’re looking for a younger actor to play the character this time around, preferably someone in his 30s.

Idris Elba, of course, being 50 years old, does not fit this criteria. Moreover, Elba himself seems to be not too interested in playing the character, which is understandable since it would likely be a decade-long commitment. However, despite these factors, fans seem to be quite in love with the idea of Elba as Bond. Check out Dwayne Johnson’s interview below.
