Harry Styles Rocks Vans In Concert Before Adidas Terminated Deal With Kanye West

Kanye West has dug himself a deeper hole in recent weeks with anti-Semitic outbursts, flimsy allegations regarding race and George Floyd’s death, and his use of the r-word to refer to Vice President Joe Biden. His acts have sparked outrage, concern, and compassion on social media. Now it appears that Harry has also turned his back on Kanye’s anti-Semitic remarks.

Harry Styles made a bold statement by wearing red Vans sneakers to his October 24 concert in Los Angeles. During most of his live shows on this tour, Harry wore Adidas x Gucci Gazelle shoes. His choice to change things up, though, sends a strong message to the brand.

The fashion decision came before Adidas severed ties with Kanye West in response to the rapper’s anti-Semitic comments on social media. Despite his anti-Semitic statements, Kanye previously stated that Adidas would “never” drop him. However, the brand’s Oct. 25 decision proved him wrong.

After noticing the subtle change in Harry’s wardrobe, fans took to social media. Many commended and thanked him for standing up to a company that appeared to be backing Kanye, who earlier this month tweeted that he was going to go “death con 3 on the Jews,” among other horrific comments. However, on October 25, Adidas officially stated that Kanye will be dropped.

Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous and they violate the company’s values of diversity, inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.

Kanye has also been dropped by other brands, including Balenciaga, and his Instagram and Twitter accounts have been suspended. Despite the clear backlash, he has defended his comments in interviews.
