Lil Durk is one of the most well-known and controversial artists in the Hip-Hop industry. Durk recently got himself out of a legal issue, but it now appears that another has taken hold of him. Lil may have to pay a high price for missing a scheduled performance in the Bahamas owing to his arrest in Georgia in 2019.
According to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Durk was scheduled to perform in Nassau in December 2019. According to promoters, they reached an agreement with Durk and paid him $24k in advance. They also claimed to have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars promoting and putting on the event.
However, Durk was never able to perform on that stage because when he arrived in The Bahamas, immigration authorities discovered he had pending felony charges in Atlanta for a shooting earlier that year, and they refused to let him in. So he didn’t show up. Interestingly, Durk fought the criminal case in which he was facing 5 felonies, including assault and weapons charges, and he eventually won.
As previously reported, the D.A. just dropped the case. Having said that, the concert promoters claim Lil Durk took their money and has refused to reschedule. They further claimed that he sought to milk them for another $200k on top of the original fee if they ever wanted him to make up the show.
The event organizers, Fresh Entertainment, claim they expressly questioned Lil Durk’s people back in 2019 whether he had any legal issues that would prevent him from visiting the Bahamas, and they were assured he did not. They’re now suing Durk for breach of contract, seeking $350,000 for the money they’ve paid him as well as the money they spent planning the concert. Let’s see how Durk gets out of this, and for further information, keep an eye on Thirsty.
