Chris Jericho has given more than thirty years of his life to professional wrestling, which is why he is viewed as a very respected veteran. Jericho is hailed a proper locker room leader wherever he goes, including in AEW. This is especially because Jericho knows how to handle tough situations when people need help. Punk’s tirade after AEW All Out caused a lot of controversy for the company. In fact, it seems Chris Jericho even told the AEW locker room that he would ensure CM Punk never returns to the company ever again.
CM Punk has been out of action since All Out as he injured his triceps. He underwent surgery for the condition and is currently on the road to recovery. In the meantime, The Elite have been a constant feature on AEW television, while Punk’s status remains uncertain.
Dax Harwood, who is close with CM Punk, recently called for him and The Elite to stop being selfish and work together. To this, CM Punk reacted in a very positive manner. According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Chris Jericho told the AEW locker room that he would make sure CM Punk never returns to AEW. It was also said that other top talent also assured the same.
“Several of the top guys, Chris Jericho being among them, told the rest of the locker room that they’d make sure Punk wasn’t brought back.”
CM Punk also allegedly did not want to become the AEW World Champion. CM Punk is also willing to move on from his AEW contract. AEW also isn’t likely looking at buying out CM Punk’s contract. It remains to be seen what will become of CM Punk in the end.
