Manny Pacquiao is touted as one of the top boxers in the world of professional boxing right now and has faced the best of the best the sport has to offer. Pacquiao retired from boxing last year to pursue a Presidential run but failed. Now it seems he will be returning to the ring next year.
Following his failed candidacy, fans started wondering whether Manny Pacquiao would return to the squared circle again. While speaking on Saturday’s Rizin FF 40 broadcast, the boxing legend officially announced that he plans on competing in the ring again next year.
“A few months ago, I was here as a guest and today I have a very exciting announcement tonight. I have agreed with Rizin to fight next year, the date will soon be announced and also my opponent that Rizin will choose. I’m open and excited to fight a Japanese fighter.
Manny Pacquiao and Rizin FF president Nobuyuki Sakakibara announced in front of the crowd at Saitama Super Arena outside Tokyo that Pacquiao will be competing for the promotion in 2023.
However, no clarification was provided as to which ruleset he will compete under. Apart from Pacquiao, even Floyd Mayweather has fought in a pair of exhibition bouts with the organization. We’ll have to see who Pacquiao will end up fighting next year.
