Earth, Wind & Fire is undoubtedly one of the most popular R&B and soul bands of all time. Their music touched many generations of fans and continues to inspire many people even now. Unfortunately, Fred White, who was the band’s drummer, has passed away. He was 67 years of age.
According to TMZ, Fred White passed away on Sunday, as revealed by his brother and bandmate, Verdine. For the time being, the cause of Fred White’s death has not been made clear.
The fourth of the White brothers to perform in Earth, Wind & Fire, Fred was one of the original members of the band, as he joined back in 1974 when he was just 19 years old.
As fans of the band know, Fred White played drums on 8 different Earth, Wind & Fire albums, including songs like “September,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Saturday Night” and “Shining Star.”
Verdine is remembering his late brother as an “amazing and talented family member” and a “child protégé.” He further added that Fred was “the wonderful bro that was always entertaining and delightfully mischievous! And we could always count on him to make a seemingly bad situation more light hearted!” We would like to offer our deepest condolences to Fred White’s loved ones during this sad time.
