Ja Morant has certainly done well for him himself as many fans consider him to be one of the most exciting players in the NBA right now. Ja’s incredible dunks have helped him gain a large fan following. No matter what he does, Ja Morant always manages to make headlines. Unfortunately, Morant is now facing a lawsuit for allegedly assaulting a minor.
According to TMZ Sports, Ja Morant has been sued for allegedly assaulting a minor during a basketball game in July at his Tennessee home. The lawsuit was filed in Shelby County in September. Court records revealed that the case has been sealed.
It was reported that it all stems from a July 26 incident at Morant’s home in Tennessee. According to police documents, a 17-year-old. who sued Morant, informed police officers that he was playing in a pickup basketball game with Morant at the house, when they eventually had a verbal altercation.
According to the court documentation, the plaintiff stated that the argument became heated, and he threw a basketball at Morant, which “accidentally” hitting him in the face. The teenager said Morant then approached him, put his chin on his shoulder, and asked a bystander “Should I do it to him?” The teenager claimed that Morant then struck him “with a closed fist, knocking him to the ground.”
The boy further claimed that Morant then “continued sticking him while on the ground” and that another man started attacking him. Officers in the document noted that the teenager had “a large knot” on his head. The document stated that Morant told the police officers he did hit the teenager but insisted he was acting in self-defense.
Morant added that the plaintiff threw the ball at him “intentionally” during the argument, and then “began to approach him as if he wanted to fight.” It was said the fight was broken up by spectators shortly after it began.
Morant told officers the teenager “made verbal threats stating he’d ‘light his house up'” as he was being escorted off the property. Morant “advised he and his family were put in fear by the statement.” We will keep you updated on this ongoing case.
