Fetty Wap is well-known for his songs, but he is no saint. He was recently sentenced to 5 years in prison for drug trafficking. Wap’s drug case sentencing date has been pushed back until March, despite the fact that the New Jersey rapper was supposed to learn his fate on January 18.
Fetty Wap’s sentencing date has been pushed out until March 9. The delay comes after Fetty Wap pled guilty to federal narcotics charges in August in connection with an interstate drug trafficking case. The rapper’s $500K bond was revoked in July, and he remains behind bars.
According to documents obtained by AllHipHop, the delay was caused by Judge Joanna Seybert, who issued a court order on Wednesday. Fetty was arrested on federal narcotics charges at New York’s Citi Field in October 2021, just before taking the stage at the Rolling Loud Festival.
Fetty Wap was suspected of leading a large narcotics network out of Long Island, assisting in the trafficking of over 100 kg of opiates, crack, and cocaine from the West Coast for distribution on Long Island. The FBI seized 16 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of heroin, fentanyl tablets, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a.45 caliber pistol, a.40 caliber pistol, ammo, and $1.5 million in cash upon his arrest.
Fetty’s guilty plea carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in jail and a maximum term of 40 years in prison. In an October statement to his supporters, the 31-year-old stated he was in good spirits despite his impending prison sentence. Keep an eye on Thirsty as the story develops.
