Nicki Minaj worked hard to establish herself as one of the top female rappers in the hip-hop industry. However, her hard work now appears to be finally paying off as she has surpassed Missy Elliott’s record as the longest-charting female rapper on the Billboard Hot 100.
According to Chart Data, the two female rap icons were tied for the record until Minaj beat Elliott on New Year’s Day. Chart Data’s tweet read,
“@NickiMinaj becomes the female rapper with the most consecutive years charting a single on the Hot 100 (2010 – 2023) breaking a tie with Missy Elliott (1996* – 2008)”
The song “Super Freaky Girl,” which is ranked No. 51 on this week’s Hot 100, was the one that gave Nicki the record. The track has remained steady on the chart for 20 weeks after reaching its peak at No. 1 in August of last year.
Minaj has consistently expressed her admiration and love for Missy Elliott. Minaj recently described her as “kicking down doors” shortly after learning that she would be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs last year.
