Last week, NFL fans and Buffalo Bills’ fans in particular were left stunned when Damar Hamlin collapsed while tackling wide receiver Tee Higgins during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After receiving numerous rounds of CPR, Hamlin was taken to a local medical facility where he was placed in the ICU.
Since then, he has been on the road to recovery and has been recovering. In fact, he was recently able to communicate with via pen and paper and the first thing he wanted to know was whether his team had won the game. While there has been no word on whether the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills game will continue their paused game, week 18 of the regular season will continue as planned.
However, the NFL is planning on honoring Damar Hamlin this weekend by making several grand gestures to support his road to recovery. The league announced that Friday all 32 teams will be encouraged to share a special for the 24-year-old who still remains hospitalised. The league also announced that a special scoreboard graphic will accompany the pregame tribute.
Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills revealed that they will be wearing the number “3” jersey patches on their uniforms when they take on the Patriots on Sunday. The team’s personnel will wear the new era hats with the number “3” embroidered on them during the pregame warmups as well. To top it all of, the NFL will allow teams to outline the number “3” at each 30 yard line in the Bills’ signature colour.
It’s good to see the entire league coming together to show solidarity for Damar Hamlin who is in hospital due to cardiac arrest. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field again soon. Stay tuned to Thirsty For News as we keep you updated on Damar’s recovery status.
