Damar Hamlin is going through the toughest time in his life. The Buffalo Bills safety recently experienced cardiac arrest on the field during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Buffalo Bills were all set to play football again this weekend, but they were also ready to honor their teammate, Damar Hamlin.
The Bills took the field against the Patriots on Sunday, with many players, including quarterback Josh Allen, holding custom flags that asked fans to “Pray for Damar.” The flags also represented his official number, 3. Fans were ecstatic with the Bills’ home game.
There were other fan-made posters with unique messages for Damar. The basic line was that everyone was concerned about Damar’s safety. And everyone paid their respects in their own special way.
This wasn’t the only nod to Damar. Before kickoff, the squad recognized and praised the medical workers who worked on Hamlin about a week ago, and who certainly saved his life. On the football field, Buffalo provided even more magic.
Nyheim Hines caught the opening kickoff and returned it 90 yards or more, running virtually the entire length of the field, breaking tackles along the way, and scoring a touchdown in a spectacular performance. It was an incredible way to start the game. Damar seemed to enjoy it, tweeting, “OMFG!!!!!!” You can check out the tweets below.
