Nick Cannon is one of the last men you’d expect to be in a monogamous relationship. He has fathered children with multiple women and has recently welcomed his baby no. 12 with Alyssa Scott. His ex-wife Mariah Carey, however, doesn’t seem to be pleased about it as now she wants ‘primary custody’ of her twins with Cannon.
According to Radar Online, Mariah is determined to win primary custody of the twins she shares with him. Insiders claim that Nick Cannon’s expanding family has changed her mind and now she wants to be the primary parent of Moroccan and Monroe.
Despite having a mutually accepted joint custody arrangement since their divorce in 2014, according to a source, Carey will now fight for full custody. “The reality of the situation is that Monroe and Moroccan are usually with Mariah anyway. Nick doesn’t see much of them,” said a source.
Although Cannon tries his best to see them, the musician is primarily focused on his work. However, it is not enough, and Mariah wants to make sure that he cannot enter and exit their lives while he takes care of his other kids.
The source explained,
“But she wants to put him on notice that he can’t just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children. And she wants legal standing as the twins’ primary caregiver.”
The insider made clear that Carey isn’t trying to punish Cannon but as a responsible mother, she feels it’s necessary to act in the children’s best interests. The information of her alleged custody arrangements emerged weeks after other sources claimed that Carey had requested the Masked Singer host to “carve out” more time to spend with their children.
Cannon, however, recently opened up about his dedication to his family and the challenges he faces juggling fatherhood and a successful career in a recent episode of the Paramount+ series The Check-up with Dr. David Angus. Keep an eye on Thirsty to know the court’s final decision on the custody rights.
