Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson remains one of the most popular pro wrestlers to have ever stepped foot inside the squared circle. The Rock has done it all as far as being a pro wrestler is concerned. The Rock is one of the richest actors in the world, but that doesn’t mean he can just outright buy anything he wants to. WWE is likely getting sold very soon, with rumors about the same taking over social media. That being said, it is unlikely The Rock will purchase WWE.
As fans know by now, Vince McMahon came back to WWE last week and immediately became part of the Board Of Directors. Last night, regained control of the company’s Board of Directors as the Executive Chairman of WWE, much to the shock of fans.
A report emerged that WWE has agreed to sell the company to Saudi Arabia and this became the central point of focus for the entire day. In fact, many people still believed WWE was getting sold to Saudi Arabia.
However, there is no truth to those rumors as reports have stated that WWE has not been sold to Saudi Arabia. According to PWInsider, the possibility of The Rock purchasing WWE was addressed.
It was noted that it would not be a smart move for The Rock to buy WWE, especially if partners change want they want to pay for the company. All in all, it would become a huge loss for The Rock.
He would need a lot of partners and/or financing and honestly I don’t think he would want to make the move. As mentioned above, the lion’s share of WWE’s revenue comes from TV rights. If that market changes drastically and the partners change what they are willing to pay for WWE, the company’s value changes drastically. Since it will cost billions to buy WWE, that kind of downturn could be catastrophic for a non-content providing investor.
Eric Bischoff also believes Vince McMahon will do what’s best for WWE’s ‘bottom line.’ We will have to wait and see who will end up purchasing WWE in the end, as there are still quite a few viable options.
