Tom Cruise is no doubt one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood’s history. However, the “Top Gun: Maverick” star has continued to be a longtime member of Scientology and he once tried to recruit Seth Rogen as well but failed to do that.
In a newly resurfaced clip, Seth Rogen, appearing in a 2021 SiriusXM interview with Howard Stern, revealed that Cruise attempted to recruit him to join Scientology. Rogen claims in the video that the “Mission: Impossible” actor tried to sit him down and demonstrate the “truth” of the religion.
“He said, ‘If you let me just tell you what it was really about … If you let me — just give me like, 20 minutes to like, really just tell you what it was about, you would say, No f–king way! No f–king way!’
I remember being like, the wording was like, is that a good thing to be saying?”
The “Superbad” actor claimed that during that “very loaded moment,” he and Judd Apatow, who was also there during the meeting with Cruise, thought if they could come out of this without getting themselves converted. “I don’t know if I am — I’m generally a weak-willed, weak-minded person — I would assume on the grand scale of people. If they got him, what chance do I have?” Rogen continued.
“Thank God Judd was like, ‘I think we’re good, let’s just talk about movies and stuff.’ Woof. Dodged that bullet.”
Rogen was relieved that Cruise’s pitch had no effect on him, but the “Top Gun: Maverick” actor has been a member of the church for a long time now. The church, however, faced harsh criticism for being accused of being a cult. Keep an eye on Thirsty to get the latest updates regarding the actors.
