Kobe Bryant was one of the greats of the game. He left the sports world stunned in grief when he passed away in 2020. Now a Kobe Bryant signed jersey is all set to sell for a hefty amount.
Sotheby’s is hosting an auction in which a signed Bryant jersey is the main attraction. TMZ Sports has learned it could sell for a whopping $7 million. The Lakers legend scored a total of 645 points over 8 months in this jersey.
Bryant wore the Purple and Gold apparel during the 2007–2008 campaign. In his 20-year career, it was the only time the great received the NBA Most Valuable Player honor. This jersey has been on him for 25 games, including 6 playoff games.
Kobe averaged 28.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game that season. His incredible performance was the x-factor as it led the Lakers to the NBA Finals. He signed the gear by writing his first name on the stitched number on the back.
This is also the same jersey Kobe was seen tugging on in the first round of the 2008 playoffs. He has one of his most iconic photos taken in this Lakers jersey. The jersey is expected to sell for anywhere between $5-7 million when bidding opens up on Feb. 2.
Kobe has left us physically however, his legacy remains at the apex of this sport. He has given so much to the sport and has played sensationally during his time with the LA Lakers. It’s only fitting that his jersey is sold for such an amount.
