Selena Gomez is still regarded as one of the best pop singers in the industry, and her stock continues to rise. She has a huge global fan base as a result of her numerous chart-topping albums. However, as a celebrity, Selena also has to face a lot of body shamers on the internet but the good thing is, she knows how to shut them down.
The “Only Murders in the Building” actress called out social media users who were body-shaming her, following her appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes in a strapless gorgeous Valentino gown. The founder of Rare Beauty admitted in an Instagram Live this week that she was “a little bit big” and she doesn’t care about it.
“I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays.”
“Right?” Gomez said after she turned her face towards her sister Gracie Elliott Teefey. “But we don’t care,” she continued as the two started to laugh.
The former Disney Channel celebrity walked the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes in a gorgeous black velvet Valentino Haute Couture gown with bulky purple sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline. She pulled her hair back into a high ponytail and accessorized with diamond drop earrings from De Beers to the thigh-high split gown.
It’s not the first time that Gomez has shut down trolls for making rude remarks about her appearance. In April 2022, the “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum lashed out at body shamers on TikTok, saying that being “skinny” wasn’t worth skipping her favorite foods because “people bitch about [her weight] anyway.”
The “Back To You” singer has also been open about her difficulties with social media over the years, even deleting the apps from her phone in 2019 because she felt “depressed” after reading some of the negative comments. Stay tuned to Thirsty to get the latest updates regarding the singer.
