Aaron Carter was found dead in a bathtub of his California home back on November 5, 2022. Aaron’s official cause of death was yet to be determined. The news sent shockwaves across his fanbase and many people sent their heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Now it seems Carter’s family believes he passed away from an overdose.
According to TMZ, Aaron’s fiancée, Melanie Martin, and mother, Jane Carter stated that the L.A. County Coroner’s Office told them there was no water found in Aaron’s lungs, which made it clear he did not drown in his bathtub.
Melanie and Jane said that the coroner is currently awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine the substances present in Aaron’s body at the time of his death. Meanwhile, the family has called for a thorough investigation by law enforcement, citing allegations of drug transactions on the night of Aaron’s passing.
According to law enforcement, there were signs that Aaron’s body had been in the tub for an extended period of time, including a strong odor of decomposition and discoloration of the water.
Melanie, who has Aaron’s phone, claimed to have discovered text messages between Aaron and an unidentified individual. The messages indicated that Aaron owed $800 for an unknown substance. According to Melanie, the conversation also includes Aaron stating that he no longer required the substance, to which the other person replied that it was immaterial and that the debt still needed to be paid.
Melanie also claimed that in the text conversation, Aaron asked the person if he was being threatened. The conversation ended there. She stated that she met with investigators last week and submitted the text exchange as evidence.
The family is concerned that Aaron may have met with the person he was texting before his demise and that he may have taken a substance that may have caused his death. Aaron’s family believes his death was not due to him huffing compressed air, which was found in Aaron’s bathroom. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing story.
