Former NFL player for the Kansas City Chiefs Jerrell Powe is in the news for a troubling reason.
According to NBC News, the former NFL player was arrested in Mississippi in connection to a kidnapping case. Alongside him was 35-year-old Gavin Bates, who is also facing charges.
Details about the arrest are unclear, but it has been reported that a man was kidnapped against his will and forced to withdraw money from a bank. Both Powe and Bates remain in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.
Jerrell Powe also played for Ole Miss before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs. He would move on to the Houston Texans and also played for the Washington Commanders before being released in 2015. Powe officially retired back in 2017.
