One of the most iconic moments in television history went down at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. The incident took place during a group performance of Madonna’s “Hollywood.”
Just before the song transitioned into a guest performance from Missy Elliott, Madonna exchanged a kiss with Britney Spears and then turned to her other side and did the same with Christina Aguilera. It was the kiss heard around the world and many fans talk about the moment to this day.
There were rumors doing the rounds at the time that Jennifer Lopez was supposed to be a part of the kiss. While it wasn’t confirmed at the time, Jennifer has come out and confirmed those rumors in a recent interview with E! News.
J-Lo said that she was filming a movie in Canada when she met Britney and Madonna and they had planned to do it. However, she couldn’t get off the film and so she couldn’t be a part of the moment. She was replaced by Christina Aguilera in the end.
“Yes, that is actually true,” Lopez said. “I was filming a movie in Canada. We had met — me, her and Britney — to do it, at [Madonna’s] home. I just couldn’t get off the film, so we couldn’t do it. Then they got Christina Aguilera, I think, to do it.”
While the moment is still talked about to this day without Lopez being a part of it. If only J-Lo was involved, the kiss would’ve been an even bigger deal. Stay tuned to Thirsty For News as we bring you similar stories.
