Vin Diesel is one of the stars whose appearance in the upcoming Avatar sequels was much anticipated. This airing of anticipation, however, went wrong. Recently, producer Jon Landau claimed that Vin Diesel will not be appearing in the ‘Avatar’ sequels after all.
While Vin Diesel won’t be a part of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ franchise in the future, but a fire tribe of Na’vi might. The ‘Fast and Furious’ star significantly hinted back in 2019 that he would be joining Cameron’s eagerly anticipated sequels, but franchise producer Jon Landau confirmed to Empire magazine that Diesel isn’t actually in the ‘Avatar’ sequels after all.
Diesel’s Instagram video with Cameron from the ‘Avatar’ set sparked rumors that the actor had been cast in the film in 2019. Articles such as “Vin Diesel Appears to Join ‘Avatar’ Sequels” were inspired by the video. In subsequent appearances with MTV, Diesel appeared to confirm the information.
“There is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from, and so, all things come, I guess, to those that wait.”
“I love James Cameron and I love the series, and I think it’s safe to say that we will be working together.”
“Vin was a fan. He came in, visited the set one day to see what we were doing and people took that out of context.”
Diesel explicitly stated that his friendship with franchise actor Zoe Saldana was one of the reasons he was “doing ‘Avatar,’” and it is likely that this was taken out of context by certain people.
Diesel will maintain his franchise talents even without the ‘Avatar’ sequels because of the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and ‘Fast X.’ In the eleventh and final “Fast and Furious” film, he will also play a prominent role.
“Hopefully, ‘The Way Of Water’ came to its own conclusion, as I think each movie will. But they do set things up because we get more and more invested in these characters. Where does Kiri go? What is Lo’ak up to? What decisions will Jake and Neytiri have to make? All of those things will continue to drive our story.”
Regarding the ‘Avatar’ series, ‘The Way of Water’ is currently closing in on $2 billion in global box office revenue. The third movie will feature the introduction of a fire Na’vi tribe, although other narrative specifics are still unknown. For further updates stay tuned to Thirsty.
