Francis Ngannou Was Offered Brock Lesnar Level Money For Jon Jones Fight

Francis Ngannou was regarded as one of the best heavyweights in the UFC for a very long time. In March 2021, Ngannou finally defeated Stipe Miocic to become the UFC Heavyweight Champion cementing his legacy as a UFC GOAT. He is no longer with the promotion and it seems Ngannou was offered a ton of money for a fight with Jon Jones.

Francis Ngannou later stated that he did not feel respected or valued as a free agent in the UFC and that he had even rejected a lucrative offer in order to negotiate a better contract with the company. He felt that his contribution and achievements were not being acknowledged by the UFC and that led to his decision to part ways.

As previously reported, Francis Ngannou officially parted ways with the UFC. Right after that, Dana White claimed that Ngannou turned down a contract that would have made history in the UFC.

Fans continued to lament the fact that Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones were never able to duke it out in the Octagon in the end.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani in an appearance on The MMA Hour, Ngannou was asked about Dana White’s history-making contract claim.

After Helwani pointed out that he heard Brock Lesnar was paid $8 million for UFC 200, Ngannou revealed that he was going to be paid the same amount for fighting Jon Jones.

“I don’t know, since I don’t know what other heavyweights make. In order to know that, I have to know what the other heavyweights made as their salary, but I don’t know.

For the Jon Jones fight? Around that.”

Francis Ngannou’s UFC exit was also not due to money issues. He also revealed his plans following his UFC departure. We’ll have to see how Ngannou will fare in other promotions in the coming months.
