Drake was set to perform at the Apollo stage on Saturday and Sunday marking his first-ever performance at the iconic venue. However, the concert was in doubt over concerns about his injured ankle.
Drake has since confirmed via an Instagram post that he has recently received medical attention for his hurt ankle. Drake had already postponed this event twice and it looks like he doesn’t want to do it again.
“Thank you Atria NY for the best health care experience I have ever had. Let’s see what I can do on this piece of shit ankle Saturday,” Drake captioned the carousel.
This event was originally supposed to take place in November but was postponed in the wake of Takeoff’s tragic passing. The rapper went on to reschedule the event for December.
However, Drake had to postpone the show for a second in December. This time “production delays” was the reason given for the postponement. SiriusXM issued a statement saying that “If you are going to play the world-famous Apollo Theater, it has to be a world-class production.”
“We as a team have been working around the clock not just putting together a concert but an experience our fans deserve,” SiriusXM and Sound 42 wrote in a statement. “With that said, we are up against some production delays that are just out of our control…these upcoming shows for SiriusXM are so incredibly special for us. If you are going to play the world-famous Apollo Theater, it has to be a world-class production.”
It looks like nothing can stop Drake from going on stage at the Apollo Theater and performing this weekend. Knowing the rapper’s passion, fans are in for one hell of a treat.
In other Drake-related news, the artist’s OVO imprint announced that it added Naomi Sharon to its roster of talent. That makes for another interesting addition to Drake’s record label. Stay tuned to Thirsty For News as we bring you similar stories.
