Brendan Fraser is one of the stars who wowed audiences after starring in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Fraser was given a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival 2022 for his work on the critically acclaimed movie “The Whale” and now, he is nominated for the first time for the 2023 Oscars for his role in the movie.

The 2023 Oscar nominations were revealed on January 23 where Fraser was one of the best actor nominees for his performance in the 2022 film. This is the first time he’s ever been nominated for an Academy Award. Given the positive reviews Fraser has received for his role in the movie, his nomination isn’t at all surprising.

Fraser has already received numerous nominations, including the Screen Actors Guild Award for best actor and the Golden Globe for best actor in a dramatic motion picture. And he has already received several of these honors, including the best actor Critics’ Choice Movies Award.

Hong Chau, who starred alongside Fraser in “The Whale,” was also nominated for best supporting actress. The film also received a nomination for makeup and hairstyle.

Fraser is making a comeback to acting with “The Whale” after a lengthy absence caused by his battles with depression following an alleged assault by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s then-president. His career was halted due to a combination of events, including the passing of his mother, his divorce, and his health issues.

It remains to be seen whether Fraser will win the award. Until then, keep an eye on Thirsty For News to get the latest updates.
