Ricky & Morty is one of the most popular shows on television at the moment. The show follows the adventures of an eccentric and alcoholic scientist named Rick and his good-hearted but easily influenced grandson Morty, who split their time between domestic life and interdimensional adventures. The show is known for its dark humor, satirical take on science fiction and pop culture, and its exploration of complex philosophical and psychological themes. The show was co-created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.
However, it was recently reported that Justin Roiland will no longer be involved with the show he helped co-create. He has been dropped by Adult Swim nearly two weeks after it became public that he is facing felony charges.
“Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland,” Adult Swim/Cartoon Network/Boomerang svp communications Mairie Moore told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.
It was also announced that the show will continue and Justin Roiland’s voice roles will be re-cast. This news comes after Roiland was arrested in August 2020 and is currently awaiting trial.
Justin was arrested and charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and/or deceit. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
According to the complainant, the incident took place on January 2020 with a woman whom he was dating at the time. An order of protection was filed against Justin and he was ordered to keep at least a 100 ft. distance from her at all times. The next hearing is scheduled for April 27.
Following his departure from the show, it will be interesting to see who will be re-cast in Justin’s voice roles. Stay tuned to Thirsty For News as we keep you updated on this story as it develops.
