Ben Askren Suffers Nasty Eye Wound During Training Session

Ben Askren had a sobering experience during a wrestling session this week as he sustained a serious injury. The former UFC star’s injury serves as a reminder of the physical demands and risks involved in the sport of wrestling.

As revealed by TMZ, Funky showed off the horrific cut on his eyelid on Thursday, as he went on to say, ” still shooting so fast these young boys can’t sprawl quick enough.”

During a wrestling session with college athlete Mitchell Mesenbrink, Ben Askren suffered the injury. While Askren attributed the injury to the session with Mesenbrink, the college athlete jokingly denied any responsibility for the incident.

Despite the lightheartedness of the exchange, the injury serves as a reminder of the intensity and physical demands of the sport. As for the injury, Ben was able to get stitches on the spot.

The cut is gruesome, but apparently nothing too severe for people to walk away from it. The stitch work was done well as Funky shared a photo of himself looking fine. Regardless, we’re glad he is doing alright now.
