Conor McGregor sustained a fracture to his ankle during the closing moments of the first round in his UFC 264 match against Dustin Poirier. This injury significantly impacted McGregor’s life in various ways, particularly by opening up unexpected opportunities. He is more or less ready for his UFC return, but it seems McGregor almost lost his life recently.
The Irish star Conor McGregor has been tirelessly dedicated to his rehabilitation journey since the injury occurred in 2021. He has kept his fans informed and updated on his progress, and they have been thrilled to see his determination and hard work pay off.
The Irishman took to his Instagram and recently revealed to the world that he had a high-speed collision between his bicycle and a vehicle and almost lost his life in the process.
In a state of distress and shortness of breath, Conor McGregor shared a video on social media showing his damaged bicycle lying in the middle of the road with broken pieces scattered around it. He stated that he had been hit from behind by a driver who was unable to see him due to the glare of the sun while turning a corner, but he was able to protect himself upon impact, as he hit the ground.
“Mate that’s nasty,” McGregor said in the video. “I could’ve been dead there, mate. … Lucky to get away with me life there, boys.”
The driver of the vehicle, Nick, was also visibly shaken by the incident. He stated in a video that he “couldn’t see anything” and expressed his apologies to McGregor. Despite the accident, McGregor seemed to take the situation in stride and made it clear that he had no plans to file any legal charges.
Instead, he simply requested that the driver put his damaged bicycle in the trunk of the vehicle and give him a ride home, which the driver obliged. He is also likely to make his UFC return this year, so fans can’t wait for his comeback now.
