Batista Highly Doubts He Will Portray Bane In Future DC Movie

Dave Bautista is a highly sought-after actor in the entertainment industry. He rose to fame through his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film franchise. His successful transition from a former WWE Superstar to a sought-after actor demonstrates his versatility and passion for acting, a goal he had since leaving WWE. That being said, it seems he won’t be portraying Bane in a future film.

Bautista previously revealed that he was completely broke before nabbing the role of Drax in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film franchise, as he had issues with tax. Following his success as Drax, Batista nabbed roles in films such as Blade Runner 2049, Dune and most recently – Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

It can be argued that Batista values diversity in his roles and personal growth as an actor over being a box office sensation. In fact, Batista had made it clear he had no aspirations of becoming like The Rock in Hollywood.

While speaking to Insider, Batista revealed that he has spoken to James Gunn, who is now overseeing the DC universe at Warner Bros. While doing so, Batista realized that he will not be portraying Bane in an upcoming DC movie as he is simply too old now.

“I have had conversations with James about that but I think the direction he’s leaning in, completely rebooting that whole universe, he’s starting from scratch and starting younger and fresher and I think you need to do that.

I think for the DC Universe to be revived, you need to start from scratch, and I think you need to start with younger actors. You need to start to plan for the next 15 years, and I just don’t think you can do that with me. And I understand that. And, also, I have to say that I appreciate that because I don’t want to play a character that I can’t bring justice to it. I don’t think at this point in my career that I can bring justice to Bane anymore. I just don’t know if I could handle the physical part, and I don’t think I would have the longevity to plan ahead for films. So, I just don’t know if I’d be that guy.”

Dave Bautista’s acting career is thriving, as he’s expressed a desire to take on diverse roles. It remains to be seen what other parts he has planned, but fans eagerly anticipate his future performances.
