Michael Jackson is widely regarded as one of the most influential cultural figures of the 20th century. Over the course of a four-decade career, his contributions to dance, fashion, music, and his publicized personal life raised him to be a widely recognized figure in pop culture. However, as we have reported earlier, the King of Pop’s biopic is already under production and now, it’s confirmed that his nephew Jaafar Jackson will portray him in it.
In the upcoming ‘Michael’ biopic from Lionsgate, which is being directed by Antoine Fuqua, Jaafar Jackson is all set to portray his uncle Michael. Jaafar Jackson is the second youngest son of Jermaine Jackson, songwriter, producer, and Jackson 5 member, whose brother was Michael Jackson.
“Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers,” said Katherine Jackson, the late singer’s mother. The “Bohemian Rhapsody” producer Graham King claims that the team conducted a global search before deciding on the actor who would play Jackson. “I met Jaafar over two years ago and was blown away by the way he organically personifies the spirit and personality of Michael,” he added.
“It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person to take on this role. I am beyond thrilled that he has come on board to portray his uncle and cannot wait for the world to see him on the big screen as Michael Jackson.”
Jaafar also took to his Twitter to reveal the first photo of himself during Michael’s rehearsals. However, the principal photography for the biopic will begin in 2023 and the script is being written by John Logan, the author of “Gladiator,” “Skyfall,” and “Spectre.” It’ll be interesting to see how the biopic ultimately turns out to be.
