Dave Bautista is a highly in-demand actor in the entertainment industry. He gained recognition through his role as Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy film series. His successful transition from a former WWE wrestler to a successful actor showcases his versatility and dedication to acting, which he has pursued since leaving WWE. While he is successful in many genres, Batista wonders if he’s too unattractive to act in rom-coms.
Before landing the role of Drax in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, Bautista revealed he was struggling financially due to tax issues. But his portrayal of Drax launched his career, leading to prominent roles in Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and his latest film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
It can be argued that Batista values diversity in his roles and personal growth as an actor over being a box office sensation. In fact, Batista had made it clear he had no aspirations of becoming like The Rock in Hollywood.
While speaking to Page Six, Batista talked about starring in romantic comedies someday. Batista admitted that he did not have the look to be in rom-coms and wondered if he was too unattractive to act in rom-coms.
“I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead. I’m a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts
I don’t know. It’s just never come my way. I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching.”
Dave Bautista’s acting career is thriving, as he’s expressed a desire to take on diverse roles. It remains to be seen what other parts he has planned, but fans eagerly anticipate his future performances.
