R. Kelly’s legal issue kept getting worse despite the best efforts of both he and his devoted supporters. However, even though a prosecutor in Chicago has recently decided to drop several pending charges against Kelly, the news doesn’t appear to make him feel any better. The singer is still in a lot of trouble and is facing a number of other charges.
Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, spoke to TMZ where she claimed to have spoken with Kelly after Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced she would not be pursuing the case anymore because the R&B singer has already been found guilty in two federal courts of comparable crimes and “is looking at the possibility of never walking out of prison again.”
“There is no real sense of relief. He is still fighting for his life. He is facing decades in prison.”
Bonjean did, however, admit that Foxx’s decision was “the right move.” In a press conference on Monday, Foxx announced the decision, saying that even though some of the accusers might be disappointed, “we believe justice has been served.”
As reported earlier, Kelly was charged in the Chicago case for sexually assaulting four people, three of whom were minors. Foxx has stated that she will request the judge to drop Kelly’s charges on Tuesday.
Kelly has previously been found guilty of a huge array of federal offenses, including child pornography, enticement, racketeering, and sex trafficking, by federal courts in New York and Illinois. He received a 30-year sentence in the New York case, and his sentence in the Illinois case, which will be handed down in February, could range from 10 to 90 years.
Of course, it is impossible to exhale a sigh of relief while carrying all of these charges. To get the latest updates regarding his ongoing cases, stay tuned to Thirsty For News.
