Dave Bautista is a highly sought-after actor in the entertainment industry, gaining recognition through his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. He has successfully transitioned from a former WWE wrestler to a successful actor, highlighting his versatility and commitment to acting since leaving WWE. That being said, it seems he has no interest in ever portraying Drax again.
Prior to securing the role of Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista faced financial difficulties due to tax problems. However, his portrayal of Drax kickstarted his career and led to notable roles in Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and his recent film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The Animal will be portraying Drax The Destroyer for the very last time in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 3 film, which will be an emotional end to their story.
While speaking to Jimmy Fallon, Batista talked about his acting career so far. Fallon brought up Guardians of The Galaxy and confirmed this would be the last time he would play Drax. He said he is surprised it was news. He signed for a trilogy and has played Drax seven times.
He said it’s hard to walk away but it’s time and a perfect ending. He said it’s similar to how he ended his pro wrestling career. It ended on a “storybook note” and he would never go back and “tarnish it.” Drax was the same way. He wouldn’t sign up to do Drax again “just to get a paycheck” and won’t do it.
