During her UFC days, Ronda Rousey was billed as an indestructible force. She would defeat her opponents within seconds and quickly earned herself the moniker “Baddest Woman On The Planet.” However, when her UFC career ended, she switched on over to the WWE, and the rest is history.
Given her background and popularity, Ronda Rousey was instantly pushed to the main event. She debuted during the 2018 Royal Rumble and shocked everyone. She won the RAW Women’s Championship almost immediately after debuting. In fact, she held the title for an impressive 231 days.
Ronda Rousey’s in-ring debut saw her team up with Kurt Angle and square off against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34. She also won her in-ring debut as well.
During an appearance on The Angle podcast, former WWE star Alundra Blayze stated that she believes ‘everything skyrocketed’ after WWE decided to bring in The Baddest Woman On The Planet.
“I really love the fact that Ronda Rousey came in and they hired her. They couldn’t have picked a better person. She put in the work, and she shows up, and she does her job. She knows what it means to train, to put your head in it, to focus, to do whatever. Look at her background. There’s gonna be a lot of people that disagree with me out there, but this is just my opinion, that when they brought in Ronda, everything skyrocketed, it really did. It was becoming to be on the map, you could feel it. But I really feel that it would have took a lot longer without Ronda, or maybe it wouldn’t have turned the page. She escalated it. [She made it] more legit. Like, ‘Oh crap, Ronda Rousey, she’s gonna bust somebody. I gotta watch this.’ Just her name put some legitimacy in there. I think it’s badass. I wish I was younger, and I would love to go toe-to-toe with her. If I was younger, absolutely.”
WWE also has interesting plans for Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 39. She previously noted going after the Women’s Tag Team Titles, so that will likely happen in the end.
