The ‘What’s Poppin’ rapper attended a Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) event on Wednesday, February 1. He accepted the Thomas A. Edison Award during an annual networking. The award, which acknowledges his achievements both on and off the main stage, as well as his dedication to representing his hometown, is the latest recognition for the “First Class” hitmaker.
According to, Louisville Business First, the Louisville-born rapper said during his acceptance speech that people ask him where he “live and I tell them I don’t live in Atlanta or New York. I don’t live in California. I live in Louisville, Kentucky.”
I try to make sure I let the world know if you want to do a photo shoot, if you want to take a meeting, if you want to shoot a commercial, if you want to get in the studio and make some music you’re going to have to book that connection flight and come.
We’re going to do some incredible things in the city over the next few years, I promise you.
The award was last presented to celebrity chef Damaris Phillips who was a graduate of the culinary program at Jefferson Community and Technical College in 2020. Born and raised in the Gateway to the South, Missionary Jack has long performed for his hometown revealing that the long goal is to make a long-term influence on the people of Kentucky. During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last year after being named to their 2022 Icons list, the 24-year-old expressed his wish that his impact goes beyond the stage.
“I would like people to think of me as real and one of one.
