Ron Jeremy was facing trial on multiple accusations of sexual assault. The famed pornographic actor appeared in 2,000 adult movies over his lengthy career. Jeremy is looking at over twenty counts of rape. However, the trial has more or less been derailed now that he has been committed to a mental hospital.
In 2020, Jeremy said he couldn’t wait to appear in court to prove his innocence. As previously reported, Ron Jeremy had been deemed unfit to stand trial for dozens of counts of sexual assault, as prosecutors have found he’s suffering from clinical memory loss.
According to TMZ, Ron Jeremy is not going before a jury to face rape charges, as he will be sent off to a mental hospital, where he is likely to spend the rest of his days. The former adult film actor, who was charged with 30 counts of rape, sexual assault, and other related offenses, has been committed to a state mental hospital in California. This decision was made due to his inability to stand trial.
A judge approved Jeremy’s transfer to the mental health facility last month, stating that his cognitive abilities had declined to the point where he could not participate in his own defense. He may be held at the facility for a maximum of two years, with periodic evaluations to assess his progress. The first review hearing is scheduled for early May.
It is possible that charges may be re-filed against him if his condition improves, but for now, he will remain in the facility. Jeremy has been accused of misconduct by multiple women dating back several decades. He entered a plea of not guilty in 2020, and his lawyer stated that it was unfortunate that he would not have the opportunity to prove his innocence in court due to his mental state.
