Pat McAfee made quite a name for himself in recent years. Known for his booming kicks and quick wit, McAfee spent eight seasons in the NFL as the punter for the Indianapolis Colts, earning two Pro Bowl selections and a reputation as one of the league’s best at his position. Off the field, he has become a fan favorite for his charismatic personality, humor, and irreverent commentary. McAfee has since transitioned to a career in media, bringing his unique perspective to fans as a co-host on his eponymous talk show and as a commentator for WWE events. Now, some of those words he said on-air are the subject of a lawsuit.
Pat McAfee is not one to shy away from speaking his mind, and that has reportedly landed him in trouble this time for comments he made regarding NFL great Brett Favre.
According to the UK Daily Mail and NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, Pat McAfee is being sued by Brett Farve for “defamatory allegations” that were levied against him by McAfee, Shad White, and Shannon Sharpe for being connected to the same Mississippi welfare scandal in regard to Ted DiBiase and his family.
Farve’s lawsuit noted McAfee of accusing Brett of taking money out of the pockets of poor people.
“Every time his name gets brought up, we have to mention that he tied the hands of the poor people and took money right out of their pockets.
[Favre is] certainly in the middle of stealing from poor people in Mississippi right now.”
Brett Favre, on the other hand, has stated that he does not know where the money came from and claims to have returned the $1.1 million. However, he did not return the $228,000 in interest he made from the payments.
As of writing this article, McAfee is yet to respond to the lawsuit filed against him. Only time will tell if the allegations levied on Brett Favre are true. Stay tuned to Thirsty For News as we bring you similar stories.
