Christina Applegate rose to fame for her portrayal as Kelly Bundy, Al Bundy’s teenage daughter on Married With Children. However, Applegate revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in 2021. And now she is planning to drop acting as she deals with the disease’s impact behind the scenes.
The actress showed her strong commitment to acting by deciding to finish the “Dead to Me” series even after having multiple sclerosis while filming the series in 2021. Applegate has received numerous honors, including a sixth SAG nomination for her work in “Dead to Me” in the category of outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series.
Unfortunately, the actress has now acknowledged that the upcoming SAG Awards will probably be her last and has spoken about her future after the ceremony. In an interview with LA Times, she stated,
“It’s my last awards show as an actor, probably, so it’s kind of a big deal. Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me at this moment.”
Applegate has considered her options and decided on producing and “doing a sh*t ton of voice-overs to make some cash” to ensure her daughter, Sadie, is “fed, and we’re homed.” Aside from that, she has revealed that spent a lot of time binge-watching every reality television program in bed.
“Also, I gained 40 pounds because of inactivity and medications, and I didn’t look like myself, and I didn’t feel like myself.”
When she finally got around to watching the show by herself, she had to pause it whenever it got too intense. After some time, Applegate distanced herself “from my own ego, and realize[d] what a beautiful piece of television it was. All the scenes I wasn’t in were so much fun to see and experience for the very first time.”
Applegate acknowledged how much her co-star Linda Cardellini has supported her, and she even went so far as to call her friend a “divine artist” who “is right there, present for you, no matter what.” Stay tuned to Thirsty For News to get the latest updates.
