The main Toy Story movies were among the most popular and critically lauded animated franchises of all time. However, many people didn’t want a new installment because of how the last two ended to wrap up the series. But there’s good news for the ardent fans as another “Toy Story” sequel is currently in the works and is going to hit the big screen really soon.
On Feb 8, Bob Iger, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, revealed that a new “Toy Story” sequel is currently under production and that Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the characters would return to the big screen. During the Q1 earnings call, Iger said,
“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.”
Moments after the Disney CEO made the big announcement, Tim Allen, who voiced the endearing Pixar character of Buzz Lightyear in four different movies, appeared to confirm on social media that he would be back for the fifth installment.
“See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”
Recently, fans wondered if a “Toy Story 5” was under production after seeing Tom Hanks and Tim Allen enjoying a private breakfast together. It turns out that they were indeed right.
The lovable Pixar characters Woody and Buzz were voiced by Hanks and Allen in four different movies. Voice actors for the franchise included Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Jim Varney as Slinky Dog, Wallace Shawn as Rex, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, and Annie Potts as Bo Peep.
