The Fast & Furious franchise is undoubtedly one of the most popular action franchises to have ever been released in movie theatres. Many fans would agree that it is essentially Vin Diesel’s series at this point. That being said, it seems Diesel wants Robert Downey Jr. to be in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Vin Diesel’s character Dom Toretto has been a highlight since the very first movie and that has not changed one bit. In fact, Vin Diesel wants to continue expanding the Fast & Furious franchise with more A-list stars.
At the highly-anticipated premiere of Fast X on Thursday, February 9th, Vin Diesel, the 55-year-old Dom Toretto portrayer, unveiled his dream Marvel collaborator for the film series.
While speaking with Variety, Vin Diesel revealed that he really wants Robert Downey Jr. to be in the Fast & Furious franchise somewhere down the line.
“Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom. There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.”
Fast X will be releasing on May 19th and will feature Jason Momoa as the main antagonist and John Cena will also reprise his role as Vin Diesel’s brother. We’ll have to wait and see whether Robert Downey Jr. will ever end up joining the franchise in the future.
