Drake is a seasoned and accomplished musician with a deep understanding of his value and influence in the music world. With a plethora of timeless and enduring hits that have captivated fans for years, he has firmly established himself as a leading force in the industry, commanding respect from both listeners and fellow musicians alike. He also filed a motion to get out of sitting for deposition in XXXTENTACION’s murder trial.
As previously reported, Drake had been mandated to participate in a deposition regarding the murder trial of XXXTentacion after an attorney for one of the suspects argued that Aubrey’s potential involvement in the case requires further questioning.
According to TMZ, Drake filed a motion, through his attorney Bradford Cohen, asking the judge to set aside the subpoena requiring him to sit for a private deposition in late February.
The judge was convinced by the persuasive arguments presented by defense attorney Mauricio Padilla, who called upon Drake to take the witness stand in the trial. Padilla serves as the legal counsel for Dedrick Williams, one of three individuals charged with the murder of XXX. The murder trial, which began last week, is underway and will determine the fate of the three defendants.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Padilla’s handling of the deposition process put Drake’s security at risk. He allegedly sent Drake a ZOOM link for the deposition without properly securing it, which could have compromised the safety of the international music star.
Furthermore, the documents indicate that Padilla filed a notice with the court several days later but failed to provide sufficient information regarding the details and protocol of the ZOOM interview with Drake. This allegedly resulted in a procedural defect in the subpoena, leading Drake to claim that it was flawed.
According to the motion, Drake asserts that his name was never mentioned in the investigative files and that there is no evidence to suggest that he has any relevant knowledge about the case. He believes it would be unreasonable to expect him to participate in a deposition and argues that the request is simply a way to add more celebrity and notoriety to a tragic event. As of yet, the judge has not made a final decision on Drake’s motion. The outcome is still pending.
