Austin Butler gained fame after his incredible performance as Elvis Presley in the 2022 movie, Elvis. Butler, however, tried an odd weight-gain strategy for that role that involved drinking ‘awful’ microwaved ice cream, a strategy he learned from Ryan Gosling.
After learning that Gosling had microwaved Häagen-Dazs ice cream and drank it to gain weight for a role, Butler tried the “awful” diet for himself. In a clip from the upcoming “Awards Circuit” podcast episode, which drops on Friday, the actor recalled, “I started doing that.”
“I would go get two dozen doughnuts and eat them all. I really started to pack on some pounds.
It’s fun for a week or so, and then you feel awful with yourself.”
The actor admitted earlier this month that he “probably damaged” his vocal cords in the process of altering his voice for the critically praised 2022 movie. Butler has received criticism for continuing to use the southern twang of the King of Rock and Roll after the film’s release, including from his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.
Austin is putting Elvis behind him and preparing for his future roles. According to his Dune 2 co-star Dave Bautista, Austin doesn’t sound anything like Elvis while portraying Feyd-Rautha in the upcoming sequel. Stay tuned to Thirsty For News to get the latest updates.
