MSCHF shoes have successfully infiltrated the new fashion era. It’s been ten days since the viral MSCHF Big Red Boots landed on the famous feet of Lil Wayne, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Diplo, Coi Leray, Iggy Azalea, Fivio Foreign, Pardison Fontaine, Rich the Kid, WWE’s Seth Rollins, Hot One’s host Sean Evans, and an unspecified number of Instagram and TikTok influencers. Nevertheless, on the morning of their virtual tenth day, the boots were on sale for $350 a pair on MSCHF’s website, where they sold out in minutes.
Ciara is the latest celebrity to wear MSCHF’s Big Red Boots and when she showed them off in an Instagram Video on Thursday her followers were not happy. “Positive Affirmations. Speaking life into myself!” the 37-year-old star captioned a clip of herself singing into the mirror while wearing a Michael Jackson T-shirt, black sunglasses, and the viral boots.
However, her fans’ reactions in the comments section were not so positive. “I hate those boots,” one wrote while another added, “Knock it off Ciara.” A third critic remarked that “this is hilarious and scary, it’s obvious that these boots are a social experiment to see how easy people are influenced by fashion.”
“They gotta be giving yall these shoes for free,” one person speculated, noting that celebs such as Lil Wayne have also worn the oversized “clowncore” style. Some commenters were concerned about Ciara’s ability to move in the polarizing pair, with one saying, “I trip over my crocs in sports mode I can’t even imagine walking in those.”
However, not everyone despised Ciara’s gigantic shoes. “Best these boots have ever looked,” wrote Kerry Washington, who dropped a fire emoji.
The $350 Big Red Boots have sold out after being launched on MSCHF’s website on February 16 but the manga-inspired design sells for more than $1,000 on resale platforms like StockX. Diplo was also mocked after being seen wearing the identical shoes courtside at a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. Keep an eye on Thirsty for the most latest updates.
