R. Kelly used to be one of the most beloved singers at one point in time, but that is all in the past. His fall from grace is well-documented, as many women came forward and revealed what kind of person he really is. He was already serving 30 years in prison and now it seems the singer is facing 20 additional years due to more offences.
Following his trial in September 2022, the disgraced R&B singer, R. Kelly, was convicted on six of the 13 counts against him, including the creation of child pornography and enticing minors into illegal sexual activity. However, he was acquitted of other charges that alleged he had tampered with a 2008 state-court trial related to the same child pornography accusations. As previously reported, his request for a new trial on the child pornography charges was rejected.

R. Kelly, the singer known for his hit song “I Believe I Can Fly,” has been handed an additional year of imprisonment by a federal judge in Chicago. This comes on top of the 30 years he is already serving in prison due to a prior conviction. On Thursday, US District Judge Harry Leinenweber sentenced the 56-year-old to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of three counts of producing child pornography and three counts of enticing a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity. This latest sentencing is a severe punishment for Kelly’s egregious actions and sends a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
According to a report by CNN, 19 of the 20 years of this sentence will be served “concurrently,” meaning he’ll serve them at the same time as his current jail sentence. The remaining year would be served after the current sentence is complete. The prosecution requested a 25 year sentence that would be served after the completion of his current 30 year prison stint.
