Paris Hilton Re-Creates Her Iconic Birthday Dress 21 Years Later

Paris Hilton is a media personality, businesswoman, socialite, model, and entertainer but critics quite often question the nature and extent of her fame as she is neither an artist nor a performer. Her party girl-heiress archetype as well as her blonde hair and the stereotypes connected with it has centered her image. Paris recently recreated her iconic 21st birthday dress after 21 years.

According to PageSixStyle, the new mom gave fans a throwback Thursday, recreating the famous silver chainmail dress and matching choker she wore to celebrate her 21st birthday in 2002. While her original Julian Macdonald party dress featured a plunging halter neckline and daring slit, Hilton updated the look 21 years later with a sleeveless corseted silhouette but kept the sky-high hemline.

The 42-year-old actress paired with similarly sparkling pumps and fingerless gloves wearing a pair of aughts-inspired shield-style sunglasses before switching them for a different set of crystal-encrusted shades. She also added bangs to her blond hair for the occasion.

Hilton’s original birthday look has inspired many copycats over the years; the “Simple Life” star herself has paid homage to the style several times most recently wearing a blush-colored iteration by Laurel DeWitt on New Year’s Eve to perform a new version of her hit song “Stars Are Blind” with Miley Cyrus. Kendall Jenner and Simone Biles who celebrated their 21st and 25th birthdays in near-identical minis are among those who have recreated the style. Nicky, Paris’ sister even paid homage to the outfit for Halloween in 2018.

“As soon I put that dress on, I knew it was iconic,” Hilton told the outlet in 2019. “I’d never seen anything like it before, and it was so me. So to see so many people using it as inspiration is just the best.” Added the star at time, “Imitation is the highest form of flattery.” The star, who recently welcomed her first child, a boy called Phoenix, via surrogate with husband Carter Reum, was enjoying the launch of an interactive Y2K-themed pop-up with Klarna showcasing some of her real early 2000s clothes.

Her lace-up denim corset top and matching pleated skirts from “The Simple Life” are on display as are some of her most famous accessories including her metallic Louis Vuitton Alma bag bejeweled pink Motorola Razr phone and Paris Hilton fragrances.
