Pat McAfee is widely recognized as an exceptionally skilled and creative personality in WWE. He has demonstrated his remarkable talents as both a wrestler and an accomplished commentator on Friday Night SmackDown, earning him a strong reputation in the industry. He also had an interesting reaction to winning the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s ‘Worst Match Of The Year’ award.
Today, Twitter has been abuzz with wrestling fans passionately debating their differing opinions. However, the cause of this isn’t just any typical Friday; it’s because the Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards were announced today.
One of the categories that fans voted on was for the ‘worst match’ of 2022, and the dubious distinction was awarded to the impromptu match between Pat McAfee and Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 38.
This bout took place after McAfee had already won his sanctioned match against Austin Theory and included a post-match appearance by Steve Austin, who delivered a lackluster Stunner to McMahon, further detracting from the overall quality of the match. Pat took to Twitter today to react to the news of his victory, as he had a very interesting reply.
My brain may have been used during the planning of all of this.. So I appreciate the award.. obviously. I’m not a movie guy.. I didn’t watch shows.. I don’t play video games.. From an entertainment standpoint.. Football and Wrestling are literally the only 2 things I’ve ever consistently watched/loved for my whole life. Cheers to you all. I’ll remember that night, in Jerry World, forever. WHADDDD
Pat McAfee also recently hinted that he may not work with WWE’s future buyers. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Pat McAfee when it comes to his time in WWE.
