Conor McGregor’s ankle fracture, which occurred in the closing moments of Round 1 during his UFC 264 bout against Dustin Poirier in 2021, was a defining moment that not only impacted McGregor’s life but also altered public perception of him. In fact, Dana White even said he will give Conor McGregor things that he wants for being a TUF coach.
The Irishman has been working very hard on his road to recovery since 2021. He has always kept fans updated on his progress, and they couldn’t be happier for McGregor.
Conor McGregor previously revealed that he will not be making his return to the UFC as a lightweight. That being said, it’s likely he is returning this year. In fact, McGregor will make his return to the octagon to face Michael Chandler.
Before that, he is going to be a coach on The Ultimate Fighter. While speaking at the UFC Fight Night 220 post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White stated that he will give Conor McGregor things that he wants for being a TUF coach.
Who gives a s**t?… These stories that come out of these things… We’re working on all of this stuff… and you’re trying to get guys to commit to coach and you know, to do the coaching commitment, especially when you live in Ireland, you know what I mean? Yeah, Conor’s gonna get some things that he wants. Nobody lost an opportunity here. If there were guys that were booked to do that, we’ll do something with them… We’ll figure it out. We’ll take care of these guys.”
McGregor has not fought since July 11th, 2021. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether McGregor will be able to win his comeback fight, as a lot of expectations are on him right now.
