Lil Wayne Causes Controversy By Claiming He’s Higher Than Jay-Z on All-Time Rappers List

For years hip-hop fans have been debating about who the greatest rapper of all-time and fans have their own opinion as to who the G.O.A.T. Even rappers have debated amongst themselves with each rapper believing that they deserve the title of “G.O.A.T.”

Billboard recently released its list of 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time which puts Jay-Z in the number one spot on the list. However, Lil Wayne has entered the conversation claiming to be the G.O.A.T.

During a recent appearance on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music podcast stated that he was surprised that he clocked in at only #7 while Biggie, Eminem, Tupac, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay-Z are ahead of him respectively.

Nevertheless, Wayne disagrees and says straight up; he’s #1. he also dared survey-takers to ask the rappers ranked higher than him how they feel about the list as he feels they will feel the same way.

Billboard hasn’t revealed its criteria for ranking Jay-Z as the top rapper but it looks like the list is based on overall success. The topic of G.O.A.T. is one that is subjective and people will have varying opinions.

According to TMZ, fans on Twitter seem to agree with Lil Wayne that he is better than Jay-Z in rap skill and cultural impact. When you try to get down to the numbers, both rappers are quite similar in terms of success. Wayne has three number-one hits while Jay-Z has four.

Lil Wayne has 25 of his songs in the top 10 while Jay only has 22 songs in the top 10 making this a pretty even contest on a performance basis. Despite Billboard releasing a list of the 50 greatest rappers, this debate will continue for several years due to the subjective nature of the topic.
