Dana White has garnered a reputation as a highly controversial figure in the MMA industry, due to a range of issues. This includes his handling of fighter pay, with many accusing him of not fairly compensating UFC athletes for their efforts. White also launched his Power Slap League recently and now it seems he has plans to expose how media has been unfairly covering the League.
As previously reported, Dana White and his wife got into a physical altercation on New Year’s Eve, an event that took those present at the Cabo San Lucas nightclub by surprise. The severity of the incident and its impact on Dana White in the long term was felt shortly after that incident.
TBS ended up pulling Dana White’s Power Slap show. Dana White then explained that this was due to the fact that he had to cancel a media tour. Dana White also defended Power Slap League’s insanely low pay.
While speaking on My Mom’s Basement, Dana White was asked how the media coverage compares to when he started the UFC. White added that he will make a documentary calling out media members who unfairly covered Power Slap.
“It’s f***** deja vu. It’s exactly the same. There’s no difference between it. All the media talking about, ‘this is horrible, this is disgusting, this should never happen, yada, yada, yada’. All these guys want to act like they’re big UFC f*******guys now. Nobody was touching this s*** back in the day. Nobody would write about it. Nobody took us serious. Nobody said that this would ever be a real sport.
I’m working on even a bigger piece about the media. Faces, publications, names, what they said, the whole deal. It’s going to live forever, and I’ll do the same with Power Slap once we get where we’re going.”
Dana White even claimed that is Power Slap League is smashing WWE on social media. Dana White’s Power Slap League has gotten mixed reception so far as well. Regardless, we’ll have to see how the show will continue to fare in the coming weeks.
