Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first child in 2020. The British singer then took to his Instagram in May 2022 to announce the birth of their second child. However, Sheeran recently revealed that his wife was diagnosed with a tumor last year while she was pregnant.
According to a press release on Tuesday, the singer recalled that during her pregnancy with their second child in 2022, there was “no route to treatment until after the birth.” The Grammy award-winning artist did not reveal any further detail on his wife’s health scare.
Sheeran did, however, write openly about how Seaborn’s diagnosis and other tragic events impacted his upcoming album, “Subtract.” “A series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art … within the space of a month,” the “Perfect” singer explained.
“My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter.”
Sheeran added that he felt like he was “drowning” with his head “below the surface” at the time and was “spiraling through fear, depression, and anxiety.” To “make sense” of his emotions, the American Music Award winner used the formation of his album as a form of “therapy.”
“I wrote without thought of what the songs would be, I just wrote whatever tumbled out. And in just over a week, I replaced a decade’s worth of work with my deepest darkest thoughts.”
Sheeran and Seaborn tied the knot in January 2019 and welcomed their daughter Antarctica in September of that same year. The second daughter’s name hasn’t been revealed by the parents. Keep an eye on Thirsty For News to get the latest updates.
