Antonio Brown is currently a free-agent wide receiver and since 2021, Brown has always managed to make headlines for controversial reasons. With that being said, according to recent Sports Illustrated, the NFL wide receiver has purchased a share of the Albany Empire of the National Arena League.
Eddie, Brown’s father, will join him as a franchise owner in addition to Brown, who will own a portion of the team. In the 1990s, Eddie Brown was the Albany Firebirds’ top offensive player. In the opening press conference, Brown stated, “First and foremost, I’m excited and grateful to be a part of the Albany Empire.”
“I grew up here watching my dad be successful and watching this building erupt. … For me, to be in a family-oriented city like Albany, being here with my dad and my kids and just giving the community and players the opportunity to live out their dreams. So for me, it was easy.
I’m just excited to be here and excited to bring Albany Empire a ‘three-peat’ and see the community and these players live out their dreams.”
On Wednesday night, Brown posted a hint about the announcement on his social media account. “Albany, New York. I’m here!” Brown said. “It’s a big announcement in the morning. Stay tuned.”
During the 2021 season, Brown left the field mid-game while playing for the Bucs and has not been affiliated with any organization since then. He did not participate in the NFL during the past season.
