Conor McGregor is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the history of the world of MMA – perhaps the biggest. He is responsible for the majority of the UFC’s most successful PPV buys as well. In fact, McGregor’s UFC return is expected to sell out a 70 K-seat stadium, at least that’s what Michael Chandler thinks.
Conor McGregor previously revealed that he will not be making his return to the UFC as a lightweight. That being said, it’s likely he is returning this year. In fact, McGregor will make his return to the octagon to face Michael Chandler.
McGregor and Chandler were recently announced as coaches for the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, which began filming several weeks ago. McGregor and Chandler will square off against each other in the octagon following the season finale of the show.
While speaking on The MMA Hour, Michael Chandler stated that he believes his upcoming fight against The Notorious One will easily sell out the Allegiant Stadium, which has an expandable capacity of up to 71,835 fans.
“I have not [heard anything from the UFC about Allegiant Stadium], but man it makes a lot of sense. Conor’s been talking about Croke Park in Ireland, talking about Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. A Conor fight can fill a stadium. [But] Conor’s comeback fight, against one of the most dangerous and the most exciting guy in the division, we sell the [stadium] out for sure… I might actually call [the UFC] today and be like, ‘Let’s start working on this Allegiant Stadium thing.'”
McGregor has not fought since July 11th, 2021. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether McGregor will be able to win his comeback fight, as a lot of expectations are on him right now. Keep checking back at Thirsty For News for more.
